What the calculators cover
The calculators are written for people who have to defend the number afterward: a superintendent preparing the annual CII figure, a chartering desk settling laytime, an agent checking a port disbursement account. The CII calculator works under MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 28 and the MEPC.352(78) to MEPC.354(78) guidelines. The laytime and demurrage calculator runs laytime under the charter party’s own terms, and the EU ETS allowance calculator prices a voyage’s surrender obligation under Directive 2003/87/EC as amended by Directive (EU) 2023/959.
Every calculator runs in the browser, so the inputs you enter are never sent to a server. The site has no accounts and no login.
Who publishes the site
ShipCalculators.com is the author and publisher of every page. The calculators and their pages are written by a professional with more than 20 years of experience in the shipping industry. Each page also shows its working: the clause each figure is traced to, test cases the build runs before every release, and a dated log of changes. How calculators are checked describes those checks and lists the calculators that carry them.
The site and Shipping-Wiki
Shipping-Wiki is a reference site from the same publisher. The long-form articles that used to sit under /wiki on this domain are moving there. Until the move is done they stay online here, marked so search engines leave them out of their indexes, and this site concentrates on calculators.
How the site is paid for
Google AdSense display ads pay for the site, and the privacy, terms, cookie and editorial pages carry none. There are no affiliate, referral or sponsored links, and no engine maker, class society, flag administration or shipping company funds the site or reviews its content. The Editorial standards set out the rest.
