Acceptance test

An acceptance test is a contractual trial that verifies a marine engine, generator, or automation system meets the agreed performance, safety, and emissions figures before it is accepted by the buyer or class. A factory acceptance test (FAT) runs at the maker’s works on the test bed, a harbor acceptance test (HAT) confirms installed function alongside, and a sea trial proves performance underway. The protocol records measured output, SFOC, NOx, governing response, alarms, and shutdown function against the specification and the IACS unified requirements, with the classification surveyor witnessing safety-critical items.
