B14 Skiff
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
International high-performance skiff designed by Julian Bethwaite.
The B14 is a two-person high-performance skiff designed by Julian Bethwaite in the mid-1980s, 4.27 m long with twin racks (wings) rather than trapezes and a fully battened mainsail with self-tacking jib. It carries no spinnaker; speed comes from the wide righting moment of the wings and a large rig. The class is administered by World Sailing as an International Class and races a high-performance circuit in the UK and Australia. It is not and has never been Olympic.
