Baltic Clean Tanker Index

The BCTI, the Baltic Exchange’s daily freight assessment for clean petroleum-product tankers, the refined counterpart to the dirty index. It covers MR and LR product trades quoted in Worldscale points, and settles clean tanker forward freight agreements. The clean-dirty split matters because a tanker carrying gasoline or jet fuel needs cleaned, often coated, tanks that a crude carrier does not.
