F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and Sport

Definition

UK trade association for leisure marine industry.

British Marine is the UK trade association for the leisure, superyacht and small-commercial marine industry, representing roughly 1,500 member companies in boatbuilding, brokerage, marinas, equipment and services. Founded in 1913 as the Ship and Boat Builders’ National Federation and later the British Marine Federation, it organizes consumer boat shows and lobbies on industry policy. It is a trade body, not a sport governing authority; competitive sailing in Britain falls under the Royal Yachting Association.
