Bunkering checklist
C2. Ship operations, crewing and technical managementDefinition
ISGOTT or company checklist before bunkering.
A bunkering checklist is the pre-transfer safety and verification list completed before fuel oil is loaded, drawn from ISGOTT and the company SMS. It confirms the bunker plan, agreed quantity and grade, tank soundings and ullage space, scupper plugs in place, SOPEP gear and oil-spill kit ready, communication and emergency-stop signals agreed with the barge, and the ship-shore safety checklist signed by both sides. The chief engineer supervises. On completion the supplier issues a bunker delivery note under MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 18, which the ship retains for three years with a representative sealed sample.
