Coating Technical File (CTF)

The Coating Technical File is the documentary record required by the PSPC for every dedicated seawater ballast tank and qualifying space, kept on board and updated through the ship’s life. It holds the coating product data sheets and technical data sheets, the shipyard work record of surface preparation and application including environmental readings and film-thickness measurements, the inspection and repair records, and the coating maintenance procedures. A class coating surveyor checks the CTF against the PSPC at new-building and references it at later surveys.
