Dangerous Goods Manifest
A2. Maritime safety legislation: SOLAS and its codesDefinition
Required under SOLAS VII/4.
A dangerous goods manifest is the consolidated list of all dangerous goods aboard, with their stowage positions, that SOLAS requires before a ship sails carrying such cargo. SOLAS VII/4.5 requires each ship carrying dangerous goods to hold a special list, manifest, or detailed stowage plan setting out the goods and their location in accordance with the IMDG Code. The manifest must follow the format and classification of the IMDG Code (made mandatory by SOLAS VII/3) and is available to the master, the flag State, and port State control. It supports emergency response and segregation verification.
