Membrane LNG containment with Invar primary barrier.
The GTT NO96 is a membrane LNG cargo containment system in which the primary and secondary barriers are each a 0.7 millimeter Invar membrane, an iron-nickel alloy with a near-zero coefficient of thermal expansion that accommodates the cryogenic contraction without a corrugated membrane. The barriers are supported by load-bearing insulation boxes filled with perlite. The competing Mark III system uses a corrugated stainless-steel primary barrier instead. NO96 and its evolutions have been fitted to a large share of the membrane LNG fleet.
