High-Speed Craft (HSC) Code

The High-Speed Craft Code provides an alternative safety regime for fast vessels whose operating profile makes the standard SOLAS rules impractical. The 1994 HSC Code applies to craft built before 1 July 2002 and the 2000 HSC Code to later craft, both mandatory under SOLAS Chapter X. The codes substitute restricted operation, rapid evacuation, and enhanced structural and stability standards for parts of SOLAS.
