International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, mandatory under SOLAS VII Part A.
The International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code is mandatory under SOLAS Chapter VII Part A and governs the carriage of dangerous goods in packaged form by sea. It classifies substances into nine hazard classes, sets packing, marking, labelling, placarding, documentation, and stowage and segregation rules, and is amended on a two-year cycle with a one-year voluntary transition. The current edition is updated through the CCC Sub-Committee and adopted by the MSC.
