IMOCA 60

F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and Sport

Definition

International Open class for solo and short-handed offshore racing including the Vendee Globe.

The IMOCA 60 is the 60-foot monohull box rule of the International Monohull Open Class Association, built for solo and short-handed ocean racing and the boat of the Vendee Globe and The Ocean Race. The rule fixes length, beam, draft, and a canting keel with a maximum righting moment, while leaving hull shape and the choice of foils open, which is why the fleet moved to powerful flying foils through the 2020s. Boats must pass a self-righting test after a 90-degree knockdown.
