The preserved physical and documentary record of shipbuilding sites, several listed on the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH). Anchor sites include Harland and Wolff’s Belfast yard, where the Olympic-class liners including Titanic were built (Titanic launched 31 May 1911), now interpreted at Titanic Belfast (opened 2012) beside the surviving Thompson Graving Dock and the twin gantry cranes Samson and Goliath. ERIH also lists Glasgow’s Clydebank, Chatham Historic Dockyard, and Gdansk; the Riverside Museum in Glasgow holds Clyde-built collections.
