NDT (Non-Destructive Testing)

Non-destructive testing inspects welds and structure for defects without damaging the part, using complementary methods: visual testing for surface form and profile, magnetic particle and dye penetrant for surface-breaking cracks, ultrasonic testing for internal flaws and thickness, and radiographic testing for volumetric defects in butt welds. Class rules and the approved welding procedure set the extent and acceptance criteria, with critical joints subject to a defined percentage of volumetric examination. Personnel are certified to schemes such as ISO 9712.
