NYK Line Cadet Programme

The NYK Line cadet program is the officer-development pipeline of Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line), the Tokyo liner and bulk operator founded in 1885. NYK sponsors nautical and engineering cadets, including through NYK-TDG Maritime Academy in the Philippines (opened 2007), toward flag-state certificates of competency under STCW 1978 as amended (Manila 2010). It combines academy study with cadet sea time aboard the group’s fleet; it is a shipowner sponsorship scheme rather than a public university.
