Ocean Liner Memorabilia
F2. Maritime Culture, Heritage, Archaeology, Art and MuseumsDefinition
Steamship company china, posters, and menus.
Collectible objects from passenger steamship lines: branded china and silver, deck-plan brochures, posters, tickets, life-ring nameboards, and salvaged fittings. The genre centers on lines such as Cunard, White Star, and the French Line and ships including RMS Titanic (lost 1912) and RMS Queen Mary (in service 1936). Major holdings sit at the V&A (whose 2018 ‘Ocean Liners’ exhibition assembled such pieces), the Merseyside Maritime Museum, and the preserved Queen Mary at Long Beach.
