OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List

The Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List is the US Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control’s primary roster of sanctioned individuals, entities, and vessels whose US-nexus assets are blocked and with whom US persons may not transact. For shipping it names tankers, owners, and managers tied to Iran, Russia, North Korea, and Venezuela; the 50 Percent Rule extends the block to entities majority-owned by SDNs even when not listed. Screening vessels and counterparties against it is a baseline compliance control.
