Owner's Superintendent

The owner’s superintendent is the shore-based technical or marine manager who represents the shipowner’s interests during construction, repair, dry-docking, and surveys. The marine superintendent covers deck and operational matters, the technical superintendent covers machinery and maintenance. The superintendent specifies and supervises yard and contractor work, attends class and statutory surveys, and protects the owner against off-specification work and cost overruns.
