Production well test fluid

C2. Ship operations, crewing and technical management

Definition

Cargo handled by FPSOs and offloading tankers.

Production well test fluid is the multiphase wellstream produced during offshore well testing, a mixture of crude oil, gas, condensate, produced water, and entrained sand and solids. On an FPSO or a dedicated well-test vessel it is routed to a two- or three-phase test separator that splits oil, gas, and water for individual measurement, giving well rates, gas-oil ratio, and water cut. The data confirm reservoir deliverability and validate processing capacity before a well is brought into full production. Water cut in the stream commonly ranges from 0 to 80 percent, and high gas fractions drive flaring and venting limits during the test.
