REMPEITC-Caribe
A7. Compliance, certification and enforcementDefinition
IMO regional center for pollution response.
REMPEITC-Caribe is the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency, Information and Training Centre for the Wider Caribbean, an IMO-supported regional activity center based in Curacao. It supports Caribbean and Central American States in building capacity to prepare for and respond to marine oil and chemical pollution under the OPRC Convention and the Cartagena Convention framework. The center runs training, exercises, and technical assistance and helps States develop national and regional contingency plans. It is a cooperation and capacity-building center rather than an inspection or enforcement body, working alongside the regional seas programme for the wider Caribbean.
