Royal Yachting Association, UK national authority.
The Royal Yachting Association is the national governing body for sailing, powerboating, and windsurfing in the United Kingdom, founded in 1875 as the Yacht Racing Association. It runs the training and certification scheme that culminates in the Yachtmaster qualifications, represents British interests at World Sailing, and selects and funds the GBR Olympic squad. Its course ladder from Competent Crew through Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper, and Yachtmaster is the recognized standard across much of the recreational and professional yachting world.
