STCW Code Part A

Part A of the STCW Code contains the mandatory standards of competence that seafarers must demonstrate, set out in tables that pair each competence with the knowledge, understanding, and proficiency required and the methods for demonstrating and assessing it. Introduced by the 1995 amendments, it gives the convention’s articles their technical substance and is binding on parties.
