STCW Manila Amendments 2010

The 2010 Manila amendments to STCW, adopted at a diplomatic conference in Manila and in force from 1 January 2012, were the most substantial revision since 1995. They added competence standards for new technologies such as ECDIS, mandatory security training, revised rest-hours limits aligned with the MLC, refresh requirements for certificates, and measures against fraudulent certificates. A transition period ran to 1 January 2017.
