Tartan Yachts is a US sailboat builder from Ohio. In 1960 Charlie Britton commissioned Sparkman & Stephens to design the Tartan 27, a keel/centerboard sloop; hull number one launched in 1961, built by Douglass & McLeod and later under the Tartan Marine name. Roughly 712 Tartan 27s were built from 1961 to 1980. The yard added the Tartan 34 and Blackwatch 37 and has delivered more than 5,000 boats, building cruiser-racer keelboats now from Fairport Harbor, Ohio.
