White List (STCW)

The STCW White List is the IMO list of parties that the Maritime Safety Committee has confirmed give full and complete effect to the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping Convention, based on the independent evaluation of their information under Regulation I/8. A seafarer’s certificate is recognized abroad only if issued by a White List party, so inclusion is commercially decisive for a labour-supplying state. A party that drops off the list loses the international recognition of its certificates of competency.
