Annual IMO commemoration on the last Thursday of September.
World Maritime Day is the annual observance the IMO holds on the last Thursday of September to focus attention on maritime safety, security, and the marine environment. Each year carries a theme set by the IMO Council, and a parallel World Maritime Day Parallel Event is hosted by a member state. It is the maritime sector’s principal awareness day, distinct from the separate Day of the Seafarer on 25 June.
