SOLAS Chapter XIII (Resolution MSC.366(93), in force 2016) requires each IMO Member State to undergo audit at intervals not exceeding 7 years. The audit covers SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, Load Line, COLREG, TONNAGE, SAR implementation against the III Code (IMO Instruments Implementation Code, Resolution A.1070(28)). Mid-cycle review at approximately 3 to 4 years after the last audit. Risk-based earlier follow-up audit possible based on findings or capability concerns.
