B1. Naval Architecture

Definition

IMO mandatory intact stability requirements.

The 2008 Intact Stability Code, mandatory under SOLAS and the Load Line Convention since 1 July 2010, sets the minimum intact-stability criteria for most ship types. The general (Rahola-derived) criteria require area under the $GZ$ curve of at least 0.055 m-rad to 30 degrees and 0.090 m-rad to 40 degrees, a maximum $GZ$ of at least 0.20 m at 25 degrees or more, and corrected $GM$ of at least 0.15 m, plus a severe-wind-and-rolling weather criterion.
