Aquaculture Service Vessel

An aquaculture service vessel works open-water fish farms: delivering and grading feed, treating sea lice, washing nets, removing mortalities, and handling moorings on salmon and other marine cages. The class splits into well boats (live-fish carriers with circulating tanks for smolt transfer, grading, and bath treatment), feed barges and feed vessels, and smaller net-cleaning and service craft. Many carry crane and remotely operated vehicle support; larger units add dynamic positioning. The work falls under farm-siting and biosecurity rules rather than a single IMO convention, with welfare governed by national codes.
