Container manifest

C3. Logistics, freight forwarding and multimodal trade

Definition

List of containers on a voyage.

A container manifest is the structured list of all containers on a voyage or in a single bay, recording each box by container number, ISO type and size code, seal number, gross weight or verified gross mass, port of loading and discharge, status (full or empty), and any dangerous-goods or reefer flags. Terminals and carriers exchange it in UN/EDIFACT messages such as COPRAR (load or discharge order) and COARRI (discharge or load report), and it feeds the terminal operating system for yard and quay planning. It is narrower than the cargo manifest, which lists commodities and consignees for customs, and it pairs with the stowage plan that fixes each container’s bay-row-tier slot.
