Delivery clause

A delivery clause sets the place, time, and condition in which the owner hands the vessel to the charterer at the start of a time charter, and the mirror redelivery clause governs the return. It fixes the delivery range or named port, the date window with the cancelling date, and the on-hire condition, with an on-hire survey establishing bunkers and the vessel’s state. Hire starts on delivery and the off-hire clock can only run after it. On a voyage charter the equivalent is the presentation of the vessel and tender of notice of readiness, not a delivery in the time-charter sense.
