Field Support Vessel (FSV)

A multipurpose offshore support vessel that serves a producing field with supply runs, light construction, ROV work, standby duty, or personnel transfer, rather than a single dedicated function. The label is generic; FSV is also used for ‘fast supply vessel.’ Such ships fall under the offshore-support-vessel family alongside platform supply vessels and anchor-handling tug supply vessels. Class notation and equipment depend on the role, commonly including dynamic positioning and a clear aft working deck.
