GEA Westfalia separator
B2. Marine EngineeringDefinition
Disc-stack centrifuge for fuel/lube oil.
A GEA Westfalia separator is a self-cleaning disc-stack centrifuge used to clean marine fuel and lube oil by spinning the oil at high speed so water and solids, being denser, move to the bowl periphery for ejection. The disc stack splits the flow into thin layers to shorten the settling path, and a hydraulically operated sliding bowl bottom discharges the accumulated sludge at timed intervals without stopping the feed. GEA’s eSep and unitrol control optimize the discharge interval and dispense with gravity discs, running fuel as a purifier and clarifier in one pass.
