GHRSST

GHRSST, the Group for High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature, is an international coordination project that sets a common specification for satellite and in-situ SST data. Its GHRSST Data Specification (GDS, version 2) defines a standard netCDF format with per-pixel uncertainty and processing levels: L2P (swath observations with error and flags), L3 (gridded uncollated, collated, or super-collated), and L4 (gap-free analyses blending multiple sensors and in-situ data). L4 products report foundation SST, the temperature free of diurnal warming. Analyses such as OSTIA and MUR follow the GDS so users can combine sources consistently.
