International Code of Signals letter G, meaning "I require a pilot."

Golf is letter G of the International Code of Signals and means “I require a pilot.” Vertical yellow and blue stripes (six bands) make it easy to identify against harbor clutter. A vessel hoists it singly when approaching pilotage waters and waiting for a pilot to board; from a fishing vessel working close to others it can instead mean “I am hauling nets.” It pairs with Hotel, flown once the pilot is aboard.
