Compulsory pilot for port entry and departure.
A harbor pilot handles ships entering and leaving a port, the compulsory pilotage that takes a vessel from the pilot boarding ground to the berth and back. The pilot directs course and engine orders to the master and the helm, working with tugs and the vessel traffic service.
