International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC)

The International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) is the global industry body, formed in 1958, that promotes the protection of submarine telecom and power cables from human and natural hazards and advises on best practice for their installation, burial, and repair. Its membership spans cable owners, operators, and governments across most coastal states. ICPC issues recommendations (on cable routing, crossings, fishing and anchoring interaction, and recovery) that inform national permitting and the UNCLOS Articles 112 to 115 regime on cables on the high seas and continental shelf.
