International Trade Single Window
C3. Logistics, freight forwarding and multimodal tradeDefinition
Single window per UN/CEFACT.
An International Trade Single Window is a facility that lets traders lodge import, export, and transit data once through a single entry point to meet all regulatory requirements, with the system routing data to customs and other border agencies. The model is defined in UN/CEFACT Recommendation 33 and supported by Recommendations 34 and 35 on data harmonization and the legal framework. It removes duplicate filing across agencies and shortens clearance times. The WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement Article 10.4 commits members to establish or maintain a single window. National systems include Singapore’s TradeNet and the US ACE platform.
