Definition

Lloyd's market underwriter committee for hull insurance.

London-market committee representing underwriters who write marine hull insurance, drawn from both the Lloyd’s market and the International Underwriting Association (IUA). Founded in 1910 as the oldest of the joint marine committees, it is administered by the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA). The JHC develops and issues standard wordings and clauses, operates sub-committees on navigating limits and risk assessment, and addresses market-wide hull underwriting issues; it is distinct from the related Joint War Committee.
