Caterpillar medium-speed marine engine.
The MaK M32C is a medium-speed four-stroke marine diesel with a 320 mm bore and 480 mm stroke, built in inline 6, 8, and 9-cylinder versions giving roughly 2,880 to 4,950 kW at 600 to 750 rpm. MaK is the marine engine brand of Caterpillar Motoren of Germany, so the M32C is sold under Caterpillar Marine. It serves both main propulsion and large auxiliary or harbor-genset duty, burning heavy fuel oil or marine gas oil. The M32C meets IMO Tier II, with a Tier III package via selective catalytic reduction. It is a workhorse on ferries, tankers, and offshore vessels.
