Mini Transat
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
Solo transatlantic race in 6.5m Mini class boats.
The Mini Transat is a solo transatlantic race sailed in 6.50 m Mini class boats (the Classe Mini), first run in 1977. The course crosses the Atlantic from France to the Caribbean or South America in two stages, with a stopover usually in the Canaries; sailors carry no outside assistance and limited electronics. Despite the boats’ small size, it is a recognized proving ground for offshore professionals, with many later IMOCA and Class40 skippers starting here.
