MHI marine turbocharger family.
The Mitsubishi MET turbocharger is an exhaust-gas turbocharger family from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery and Equipment, the standard fit on many large two-stroke and four-stroke marine diesels. MET units use a single-stage axial turbine driven by engine exhaust and a centrifugal compressor on a common shaft, with frame sizes designated by impeller diameter (for example MET18, MET53, MET83, the number in centimeters). They raise charge-air density and boost engine power. The MET-MA series improves efficiency, and the MET83MAG hybrid integrates a generator that draws surplus exhaust energy to produce up to about 750 kW of electrical power.
