Song dynasty merchant wreck raised intact in 2007.
A Chinese merchant ship of the Southern Song dynasty (about 1127 to 1279), lost off Yangjiang in Guangdong and raised whole inside a steel caisson in December 2007. The 30-meter wooden hull and its cargo of more than 180,000 ceramic and other items were lifted together and moved to the purpose-built Maritime Silk Road Museum, where excavation continued indoors in a controlled tank. It is the largest, best-preserved Song-era ocean trading vessel recovered, evidence of the South China Sea ceramic export trade.
