NAVAREA Warnings

IHO area-based navigational warnings.
Long-range maritime safety information broadcasts under the Worldwide Navigational Warning Service (WWNWS), which divides the oceans into 21 geographic NAVAREAS, each with a coordinating country issuing warnings of dangers to navigation. NAVAREA warnings cover new or unreliable aids, wrecks, derelicts, military exercises, and SAR or anti-piracy operations, distributed by SafetyNET and NAVTEX. The WWNWS is run jointly by the IMO and the IHO under IMO Resolution A.706(17). NAVAREA warnings sit above the more local coastal and local warnings in the MSI hierarchy.
