NCSC Maritime Sector Guidance
E1. Maritime security, geopolitics and riskDefinition
UK National Cyber Security Centre publications.
NCSC maritime guidance refers to cyber security advice issued by the UK National Cyber Security Centre, the GCHQ-based authority set up in October 2016, for the maritime and ports sector. The NCSC publishes sector-specific guidance and, with the UK Department for Transport, the Code of Practice on Cyber Security for Ports and Port Systems and equivalent ship guidance. The material aligns shore and shipboard practice with national frameworks and supports operators’ obligations under the UK NIS Regulations 2018 and IMO Resolution MSC.428(98). It complements, rather than replaces, the BIMCO industry guidelines.
