PetroBras P-class FPSO

The Petrobras P-class is the series of numbered production platforms (P-43, P-48, P-50, P-58, P-63 and others) that Petrobras deployed in the Campos and Santos basins offshore Brazil, many of them FPSOs converted from existing VLCC tankers. P-50, for example, was converted from a VLCC; P-63 was converted from the tanker BW Nisa at a Chinese yard with a stated capacity of 140,000 barrels of oil per day. The class is a reference for large-scale tanker-to-FPSO conversion: reuse of the hull’s storage volume, addition of process topsides, and station-keeping by spread or turret mooring. DNV and other societies classed several of the conversions.
