PRO FORMA disbursement account

C1. Commercial shipping, chartering, economics and finance

Definition

Estimated port costs prepared by the agent.

A proforma disbursement account (PDA) is the agent’s pre-arrival estimate of all port costs for a call, prepared so the principal can fund the agency before the ship arrives. It itemizes port and harbor dues, pilotage, towage, mooring, berth hire, and the agency fee, and the principal remits the PDA total as an advance to the agent. After departure the agent issues the final disbursement account (FDA) with vouchers, and the difference is settled either way. The PDA feeds the voyage estimate as the port-cost input before actual figures are known.
