Renk gearbox
B2. Marine EngineeringDefinition
Marine reduction gear maker.
RENK is a German maker of marine reduction gears, couplings, and clutches for naval and commercial propulsion, including cross-connecting CODAG, CODOG, and CODLAG gearboxes that combine diesel and gas-turbine inputs onto one propeller shaft. RENK marine gears handle single and twin-input reduction, integrated thrust bearings, PTO and PTI drives for shaft generators and electric boost, and self-shifting synchronizing clutches that engage a faster prime mover automatically. The product line covers high-speed naval combatants through merchant ships. RENK also supplies elastic couplings and shaft brakes, so a propulsion train can be sourced as one matched gear, coupling, and clutch package.
