Riser Tower (FPSO)

E4. Cruise, offshore energy and auxiliary/specialised fleets

Definition

Vertical riser support structure.

A riser tower is a buoyant, near-vertical bundle of production, gas-lift, and service lines held upright by a subsurface buoyancy tank and tied to a floating production unit through flexible jumpers near the surface. It decouples the static seabed-to-buoy section from the dynamic vessel motions, a hybrid riser solution used in deepwater fields such as Girassol off Angola. The structure is a riser system, not a vessel type; it serves an FPSO or similar floater rather than being one.
