Definition

Seafarer's Employment Agreement under MLC 2006.

The Seafarer’s Employment Agreement, the individual employment contract every seafarer must hold under the Maritime Labour Convention 2006. It sets out wages, hours, leave, repatriation rights, and the terms of service, signed by the seafarer and the shipowner or its agent, and replaced the older articles of agreement. Port State and flag inspections check that each crew member’s SEA is in place and consistent with the MLC standards.
